Medical Scholars Externship at KDH

The Medical Scholars externship is a unique opportunity geared specifically for individuals who seek to pursue a career in medicine. Inspired by the clinical rotations undertaken by third and fourth year medical students, the externship is an immersive ten-week program offering participants the opportunity to gain first hand exposure to numerous medical specialties. The externship offers the invaluable chance to gain extensive shadowing experience, but also to develop personal connections with practicing physicians in the area.

Possible Rotations:    
Anesthesiology Emergency Medicine   Family Medicine
General Surgery Internal Medicine Obstetrics & Gynecology
Otolaryngology Orthopedic Surgery Pediatrics

Time Commitment:

  • 10 weeks during the semester
  • Minimum of 2 hours in the clinic, twice a week

Minimum Application Requirements:

  • One year of Hanover College Biology (Bio 161 & Bio 185)
  • One semester of Hanover College Organic Chemistry (Che 221)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3
