The Medical Scholars externship is a unique opportunity geared specifically for individuals who seek to pursue a career in medicine, physical therapy, or occupational therapy. Inspired by the clinical rotations undertaken by third and fourth year medical students, the externship partners with King's Daughters' Health in Madison and is an immersive ten-week program offering participants  opportunity to gain first hand exposure to numerous medical specialties (in the physician track) and both out-patient and in-patient shadowing for the physical  and occupational therapy tracks. Participants gain extensive shadowing experience but also develop personal connections with practicing physicians and therapists in the area. Students may elect to use the externship as one unit of academic credit.
